Security Equipment Corporation (SEC) passed an exhaustive review of your Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) product (SABRE) by our agency which we intended to make available for our law enforcement officers/agents. The review process consisted of: 1) comparison of product components to requirements from both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration, 2) analysis of the standards for measuring capsaicin levels and 3) significant vendor-provided safety reviews concerning oral, inhalation, and skin/eye toxicity levels. CBP also conducted a review of the production facilities to ensure that the process for manufacturing the products meets exacting standards and extensive analysis. SEC's in-house HPLC testing of not only the food spice additive prior to use but the final product before and after "canning" was outstanding.
