Be A Hard Target!

Ken Murray, author of “Training at the Speed of Life”, recently visited our Chicago office and was fortunate enough to share some safety tips and advice with David Nance. For those of you who don’t know, Ken is an icon in the professional, public safety industry.  Police Academy Instructors all over the globe teach his Reality Based Training Concepts which save officers’ lives!

Ken talked about the series of calculated steps an attacker takes and referred to these steps as the four T’s: Targeting, Testing, Trauma & Take Off

Ken and Security Equipment Corporation (manufacturer of SABRE personal safety sprays, aka pepper spray & mace) are both very passionate about personal safety and sharing our knowledge to help others.  He is often frustrated witnessing others in public whose behaviors make them a ‘soft target’ or an easy victim.  If you pay attention, you may be able to pick up his strong feelings regarding this while watching the below video.

You must always be ready and have a back-up plan in case the threat escalates into an attack.  Understand that you can do everything right to discourage an attack by being a ‘hard target’ and the attack may still occur.  We are not faulting anyone who has been attacked nor or we saying that you can prevent all attacks from occurring.  You must be ready to protect yourself.  You must have a plan!  That being said, condition your mind and behaviors to “Be A Hard Target” and you’ll become far less vulnerable!

  1. I appreciate your post. I also wrote that SMS advertising provides a cost effective method of targeting promotions to specific customer profiles. You might want to remind customers of specific events or promotions, but for whatever reasons, SMS allows you to pass information directly to the right customer at very affordable prices and fast delivery.
