Jack Hanna is know throughout the world as a zoo director, author, and animal expert. According to a recent news report on CBS, we can now call him survivor. A walk in the woods turned into a confrontation with not ONE buy THREE wild grizzly bears in the mountain of Montana. Hanna and his wife lived through the ordeal thanks to bear spray, or bear pepper spray.
Three bears, noticed by a young girl and her mother, walked down a hiking path straight toward Hanna, his wife, and the other hikers. They moved to a wall giving the bears space to move through. As taught in bear country, they all clapped and made lots of noise, but the bears continued on their path toward Hanna and friends. When the bears reached 25 to 30 feet away, there was no other choice but to shoot them with bear spray – AND it worked.
CBS reporter Harry Smith interviewed Hanna from Montana about the attack which took place on Saturday, July 24th. According to Smith, Hanna believes every hiker and outdoor enthusiast should carry bear spray for that “just in case” moment that could be life altering.
Bear pepper spray is an effective solution for anyone who loves the outdoors. Hunters, hikers, fisherman, or nature lovers should not have to feel threatened in the wild. One of the best advantages of bear spray it is a non-lethal deterrent which allows both the user and the bear to continue to enjoy the great outdoors!
***NOTE*** As the interview was taking place, a black bear was roaming around near the Big Forks, Montana interview location.
